Modern Steel Arch Pedestrian Bridge: A Landmark for Haskovo, Bulgaria
Completed in August 2007, this elegant pedestrian bridge connects the "Mladezhki Halm" and "Ovcharski" districts of Haskovo, significantly improving access for residents in eastern Haskovo to "Mladezhki Halm" park and the "Sveta Bogoroditsa" monument. Pan Ltd. was the contractor for the metal structure and installation activities. The bridge spans 42.48 meters in length and 2.80 meters in width, supported by four abutments. The distinctive main load-bearing structure features a 27.29-meter steel arch, constructed with a rounded steel tube forming the arch itself and a tapered steel web running through its center, creating a visually appealing and structurally sound design. The structure is composed of two slightly inclined arches connected by transverse beams just below the deck level and spatially reinforced with a pair of prominent tie rods. The railings are metal with simple vertical bar infill.
